Adding a runner to your hallway can certainly expand the life of the flooring underneath, as it provides a protective layer. Runners also help to provide extra grip to the flooring, reducing the risk or slipping as the family rush back and forwards through the hallway.

Runners will also bring extra style to your hallway, as they can be found in a variety of designs and patterns, bringing a dull decorated hallway back to life. The great thing about carpet runners is that they can be washed and cleaned easily, perfect for busy households with lots of feet treading on it each day. Before you let your current hallway floor get too worn, invest in a runner to give your floor extra protection and style.

Choosing a durable yet stylish carpet for your stairs.

Posted on March 25, 2017 at 8:26 am

Your stairs are a part of your house that gets a lot of wear and tear, an area with high levels of traffic requires a more durable long lasting carpet in order to avoid it looking old and worn. Remember when buying a carpet, you should only go to a reliable and a reputable dealer. Find a dealer who sells quality carpets and offers excellent customer service. Ensure that the dealer provides a good guarantee and warranty on the product they sell.

Have a look at all the different types of carpets and decide upon a design and style you prefer, then have a consultation with a professional who can guide you to the carpet best suited for your needs. You must also consider the various underlay that should accompany your new stair carpet. Underlay is very important, although not visible, it helps your carpet last longer and provides added comfort when stood on.

The texture and colour of the carpet will affect the appearance of the hallway and stairs; also, the lighting condition can have an effect on the look of the carpet too. To give a formal look to any room, try using a tapestry weave or oriental style, or if you want the room to look brighter, buy a carpet that has more lustrous carpet fibre.

As mentioned earlier, watch out for the traffic generated in the room before buying a carpet. That said a low loop or the basic pile performs well in these areas. Not only will it last longer but it is easier to clean as well.

Price is another important factor, remember that you get what you pay for. Choose a carpet that is durable, that will look stylish and serve the purpose. Spending that little bit extra could save you money in the long term, as the carpet shouldn’t need replacing for a considerable amount of time.

Between tiles and lino: Which is Better?

Posted on February 16, 2017 at 12:00 am

When one is constructing a bathroom floor, there are two main options to choose from. The ceramic tiles and the linoleum. We haven’t included wood because it’s often avoided due to being expensive and susceptible to damage by water.

To choose between the two, one has to consider the benefits for each.

Ceramic Tiles

They last longer compared to the linoleum type and rarely crack unless on impact with a very hard object.

They also have a higher elegance magnitude compared to the linoleum type whilst they are available in a variety of colours, sizes and patterns.

Linoleum

They are comparatively cheap, easier to install and very easy to maintain as they only require regular mopping and sweeping. They are also comparatively softer on feet. That said, linoleum floors do not last for long like the ceramic tiles and that’s why it’s a cheaper product, so if your budget allows, we’d recommend you go for ceramic.
