Comfort or Colour

Posted on January 28, 2015 at 10:34 am

When you’re buying a carpet, you’re probably going to look at different factors before making a decision. You may look into price, colour and texture, but which of these is the most important?

Well, a comfortable carpet is important in every home, but it’s not usually too much of an issue in a corporate or a commercial environment. If you’re buying a carpet for your living room, then you will need feel it and test it out before you buy, but then colour has to be an important consideration too.

If you have magnolia walls then a carpet with a similar tone can be a good option, but marks can show up easily, and it could be wise to go a shade darker. These are two of the most important factors and whether you think a colour is more important than comfort or vice versa, you will more than likely have to consider both before you buy.

Adding a Rug to the Design of your Living Room

Posted on August 26, 2014 at 1:45 pm

Rugs were the in thing a decade or so ago, but they can actually be a unique addition today. Not many properties will have a rug over the top of their carpet, and that’s because carpets today are more stylish and there are more options.

Back in the day a rug would be used to merely cover up a stain, or add a bit of cosiness to wooden flooring, but having it as the centrepiece in your living room underneath a coffee table can be a nice touch.

If you have a large living room you may just want to have a rug that stands on its own, perhaps being situated by a stove or a fireplace, and there are plenty of modern and traditional designs to choose between. If you want to add some character to your property, then a rug may just do the trick, and it can really liven up your living room compared to just having a plain carpet.

Tips On Smoke Damage Repair and Cleanup In Your Home

Posted on May 19, 2014 at 3:29 pm

Are you a victim of fire menace in your home? Are you wondering on how to embark on an effective and successful smoke damage repair and cleanup? It is understandable that it can be so devastating to deal with a fire menace. In fact, most people end up getting confused on what to do once they are caught up in such situations.

The good thing is that there are a couple of strategies and techniques you can employ to ensure that your house regains its original appearance. One of the best ways to do so is by embarking on a smoke damage repair and cleanup. However, the whole process may not be as easy as people take it. This is so especially if your house was largely affected by fire.

To help you embark on a successful repair and cleanup of your smoke-stained home, here are important tips and guidelines:

Start Cleaning Up Immediately

It is important to bear in mind that smoke stains can become more stubborn if not cleaned fast. In fact, it might come to a point where the stains will become permanent on your furniture or the house walls. For this reason, it is greatly recommended that you embark on the clean up and repair process as soon as possible. Use all the necessary aids to ensure that the stains are removed effectively and completely.

Replace Filters In The Air Conditioners

Once the air conditioners are exposed to smoke for a long time, soot tends to build up around the filters. This can adversely affect the operation for the air conditioner to a point of complete malfunction. It is better to repair the air conditioner instead of incurring huge replacement cost. It is therefore recommended that you remove all the filters and replace them with new ones.

Clean Your House Walls From Top To Bottom

This is one of the smoke damage cleanup tactics that most people tend to snub. It is important to understand that walls should be cleaned in a systematic way and not from any random point. You must ensure that cleanup is done from the top point of the wall going down to the floor. By doing so, the whole task will be made easy since you will not in any way re-stain the already clean places.

Vacuum The Carpet

One thing you should understand is that carpets have the capacity to hold smoke smell for a long time if not vacuumed fast. In addition, a lot of soot may create permanent stains on the carpet especially the bright coloured.

Carpet vacuuming is one of the best smoke damage repair and cleanup measures you should implement at primary stage. This is because a slight delay can amount to serious implications in the long run.

Keep Your House Aerated

If you must get rid of the disgusting smoke smell in your house completely, then you must keep all the ventilations open. You also must keep the windows and doors open for long hours during the day. After a while, the smell disappears gradually and it is eventually gone.

Hand-made Carpets

Posted on September 5, 2013 at 10:32 am

Hand-made carpets are particularly expensive among the types of carpets available. Getting a quality hand-made carpet is a difficult proposition at any time, but if you are going to get one, due to the difficulty of it, you should get a top quality carpet. Hand-made carpets are distinguished among other carpets because they can be made to specific design specifications. Like a rug, a hand-made carpet can have a specific, and complex pattern, whereas with a factory made carpet, you are usually limited in the design capabilities.

Making a hand-made carpet is a very difficult venture, made more so by the tradition which is typically involved. It involves dozens of people weaving a patterned carpet as a cooperative, a very difficult thing to manage. The results can be truly spectacular, and you may end up with something you couldn’t even consider walking on.
