If you’ve got a lot of unused rooms in your home, a great idea is to convert one of them into a guest bedroom. In many ways they are the same as a standard bedroom, but the aim of it is quite different.

With a guest bedroom, the aim should be to try and not over-personalise the room but still make it homely and inviting for your guests to enjoy their time in. Here are a few tips for a guest bedroom:

• Use neutral colours so that it is comfortable at all times.
• Don’t put any clutter in the room, try and keep it as basic as possible.
• It needs to be a king-sized bed so that it will be okay for both couples and single visitors.
• The room needs to be a decent size, and offer space for people to unpack and get comfortable.
